Faculty of Information Technology, Mathematics and Economics
The history of the Faculty of Information Technology, Mathematics and Economics begins in 1979, when the Subject Commission on technical means of teaching Physics and Mathematics was founded. In 1991, the commission was reorganized into the Department of Computer Science and Computer Engineering. In 1999, the computing center was founded. In 2003, the Faculty of Information Technology and Mathematics was created. The faculty includes such leading departments as the Department of Pedagogy and Pedagogical Skills, the Department of Mathematics and Physics, the Department of Information Technology and Cybernetics. At the time of the faculty’s establishment, the educational process was carried out by 6 Doctors of Sciences and 16 Candidates of Sciences.
In 2013, the Faculty of Information Technology and Mathematics was joined to the Faculty of Economics, in such a way the Faculty of Information Technology, Mathematics and Economics was created. The modern structure of the faculty includes 7 departments: the Department of Information Technology and Cybernetics, the Department of Mathematics and Physics, the Department of Pedagogy and Pedagogical Skills, the Department of Sociology, the Department of Management of Organization and Administration, the Department of Economics, the Department of Applied Mathematics and Information Technologies.

- Master’s Degree: 8.04020101 specialty “Informatics”, 8.04020101 specialty “Mathematics”, 8.03010101 specialty “Sociology”, 8.18010021 specialty “Pedagogics of Higher School”, 8.18010021 specialty “Management of an Educational Institution”.
At the Faculty of Information Technology, Mathematics and Economics, specialists are trained in postgraduate studies in specialties 13.00.01 – General Pedagogy and History of Pedagogy, 13.00.04 -Theory and Methods of Professional Education, 05.01.01 – Applied Geometry, Engineering Graphics; doctoral studies in the specialty 13.00. 01 – General Pedagogy and History of Pedagogy.
Students of the faculty receive training and production practices in educational institutions, at city enterprises, in computer and sociological laboratories at the university.
At the faculty there are such student scientific circles: “Radical” (Department of Mathematics and Physics), “Informatik” (Department of Information Technology and Cybernetics), “Akme” (Department of Pedagogy and Pedagogical Skills), “Management” (Department of Management and Tourism Industry) , “Idea” (Department of Management and Tourism Industry), “Sociologos” (Department of Sociology).
The educational process at the faculty is based on the principles of democracy, humanism and science and contributes not only to the acquisition of knowledge, skills and abilities, but also the formation of each student as a person, adaptation to external conditions, the manifestation of their own individuality. Apart from the traditional forms of organization of the educational process, the elements of distance education are widespread at the faculty. Traditional lecture, lecture-visualization, lecture-presentation, webinars, practical, laboratory and seminar classes are the main forms of presentation the necessary material of disciplines that are taught at the faculty.
At the Faculty of Information Technology, Mathematics and Economics there is a laboratory of sociological research.
According to the order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine dated December 5, 2014, No. 1447 “On conducting experimental work in general education and out-of-school educational institutions of Zaporizhzhya region”, teachers of the Department of Sociology, Pedagogy and Pedagogical Skills take part in experimental work on the topic “Creation educational-methodical principles of forming skills of intercultural communication among children” in secondary and extra-curricular educational institutions of Zaporizhzhya region. Teachers of the Department of Information Technology and Cybernetics take part in the applied research, scientific and technical (experimental) development at the expense of the state budget on the theme “Development of the intellectual system of information and cognitive support for the functioning of the National Qualifications Framework”.
In 2014-2015, students of the faculty became prizewinners of the 2nd round of the All-Ukrainian competition of student research works, the winners of the International Student Olympiad on Information Technologies “IT-Universe”, the winners of the International Student Olympiad.
Faculty of Information Technology, Mathematics and Economics cooperates with higher education institutions of Poland, Bulgaria, Germany, Russia, Belarus, Moldova, etc.
Prospects of development of the Faculty of Information Technology, Mathematics and Economics:
- licensing of new specialties of pedagogical and engineering courses;
- development of international cooperation with partner universities;
- qualification improvement of qualitative composition of scientific and pedagogical staff of departments;
- development of material and technical base and infrastructure of the faculty.
